OH CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN
Senior defender and CU captain Zakari Messam tied the all-time appearances record at Concord at 68 games in the victory over Frostburg State. Messam is tied with Cole Cloonan (2011-14) and will take sole possession of the top spot with any appearance the rest of the season. The Manchester, Jamaica native has an assist on the season and bolstered the Concord defense to a league-leading six shutouts.
GUT IT OUT
The Mountain Lions eeked out a fourth straight victory on Wednesday with a 2-1 win over Frostburg State. CU netted goals in the fourth and 35th minute to take an early advantage but the Bobcats cut it to one in the 58th. Concord managed to hold on, defending a barrage of attacks from the visiting squad. The Mountain Lions have shown comfort in one-goal games, posting a 2-0 record in those games in 2026 and an 8-4 record including last year's results into the mix.
MUST-SEE TV
The Mountain Lions have a massive contest approaching as they take on #12 Davis & Elkins this Sunday. A season ago, Concord went 2-0 against D&E in 2025. The Mountain Lions edged out the Senators, 2-1, in the matchup in Athens in a thrilling contest with graduate midfielder Raheem Baptiste snagging one of the goals. In the road matchup in Elkins, Concord notched a set-piece goal and held on for a 1-0 win. The Maroon and Gray have gotten the better of D&E as of late, winning four straight matchups against the Senators.
BREAK THE HABIT
CU aims to get back on track on the pitch at West Liberty. A season ago, Concord entered the match ranked 10th in the nation and dropped a tough one, 1-0. The Mountain Lions still won the season series with West Liberty taking two of three matchups, including a 3-2 MEC Semifinal victory that saw Concord reach the MEC Championship game for a second straight season.
SCOUTING THE DAVIS & ELKINS SENATORS
Davis & Elkins are in wonderful form, sitting comfortably atop the MEC North and scoring a victory over #2 Charleston on Wednesday. The Senators are 8-0-1 in 2026 and are winners of seven straight contests. Concord will have its hands full as D&E are also a perfect 3-0 at home.
SCOUTING THE WEST LIBERTY HILLTOPPERS
West Liberty sits a game over .500 at a 5-4 clip thus far. The Hilltoppers have shared a lot of the wealth on offense but Leyton Collier stands as the leader for WLU with three goals and two assists.
