ATHENS, W.Va.- The Concord University women's basketball team used a balanced effort to defeat Davis & Elkins, 85-64, Saturday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference game inside the Carter Center.

The Mountain Lions (9-5, 5-2 MEC) started quick, blitzing out to an 11-0 lead before the Senators found their first basket. Sophomore guard
Kenyah Stubbs put up five during that stretch and senior forward
Olivia Ziolkowski added four more in the initial onslaught.

The Senators battled back to cut the lead to just one point, 13-12, with 2:42 left in the opening quarter. CU responded with an 8-0 run to close the quarter after four more points from Stubbs and four points from senior forward

After teams traded buckets to the start the second quarter, Concord scored six straight points to jump in front 31-16. The lead eventually worked its way up to 18 points, 35-17, after a reverse layup from freshman guard
Nasiya Smith with 3:18 remaining.

Concord settled for a 38-22 lead at halftime.

CU separated itself in the third quarter as the Maroon and Gray poured in 31 points on 62.5 percent shooting. The first 20-point lead of the game came when senior guard Kennedy hit of her two three-pointers in the period at the 6:52 mark to push the advantage to 50-28.

The Mountain Lions stayed hot, getting three-pointers from N. Smith, freshman guard
Cadence Blackburn, and junior guard
Alexis Frazee as well as the two from Scales to put Concord up 27 by the end of the third, 69-42.

The lead reached 30 points, 77-47, after another Frazee three-pointer with 6:46 remaining.

Stubbs led the Mountain Lions in scoring with 17 points, adding on five rebounds and three assists. Scales had 12 points and a team-high four assists. Ziolkowski did a bit of everything, finishing with 12 points, six rebounds, three steals, and a block.

Frazee also had 12 points as she finished 3-for-5 from three-point range. The Little Hocking, Ohio native has made at least two three-pointers in five straight games.

Abbie Smith was the other Mountain Lion in double figures, totaling 10 points and five rebounds.
Nasiya Smith was just shy of a double-double off the bench with nine points and nine rebounds.

The Mountain Lions finished with 20 assists as a team, their second-highest mark of the season.

Concord hits the road to face Wheeling this Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
