ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio – The Concord University women's golf team placed fifth at the Wheeling Invite that wrapped up Friday afternoon at Belmont Hills Country Club.
In their first tournament of the season, the Mountain Lions shot team scores of 386 and 406 for a total of 792.
Freshman
Kendra Lugo led the way for Concord as her two-day total of 165 (82, 83) was good enough for a tie for sixth. Lugo finished three shots outside the top five. Her best stretch over the 36 holes was Thursday's front nine when she carded a 38. Included in the front-nine 38 was a birdie on the long 526-yard, par-5 sixth hole. Lugo added another birdie during Friday's round as she wrote down a three on the par-4, 334-yard 16
th hole.
Sophomore
Sara Matos Tamargo recorded rounds of 93 and 100 as she finished in a tie for 25
th with a total of 193. Freshman
Reagan Friel shot a 36-hole score of 213 to place 35
th. Sophomore
Alexandria Denny was 37
th.
Glenville State's Elaina Seeley was the individual winner with a total of 157. GSU won the team title with a combined score of 647.
Concord is right back up on the links as it competes at the Charleston Invite starting Monday at Edgewood Country Club in Charleston, West Virginia.Â
