Get to Know: Head Baseball Coach Drew Bailey

ATHENS, W.Va. – With so many new faces around the Carter Center for the 2025-26 school year, the Concord Sports Information Department will be highlighting all full-time employees in a Get to Know series throughout the first few weeks of the new athletic year.

Whether those friendly faces have been in Athens for five days or five decades, you'll know more about everyone in the Concord Athletic Department.

How did you land at Concord?
I played here from 2008-2010 then after 4 years as the HC at Bluefield State I was offered the job in the summer of 2024.
 
Tell us a little bit about where you're from?
Christiansburg, Virginia, Born and Raised
 
What's been your most rewarding experience as an athlete or coach?
Winning two championships was a great experience at Bluefield State but, watching our guys graduate, become fathers, professionals, and more. That's why we coach.
 
Outside of family, who's had the biggest positive influence on your life?
My college coach, Kevin Garrett, my American Legion Coach, Danny Evans and my high school coach, Tim Dunkleman.
 
What makes Concord such a special place?
Great people.
 
Favorite vacation spot?
Hatteras Island in North Carolina
 
Go-to junk food?
Reese's Fastbreak
 
What advice would you give today's college student that you found the most valuable?
Use your resources from mentors, professors, coaches, etc. Utilize the people that are right in front of you to help you grow.
 
What's one bucket list item that you have crossed off and are most proud of?
Going to Dodger Stadium with my Dad and Brother
