CLARION, Pa. – The Concord University women's golf team placed third at the Clarion Golden Eagle Autumn Invite that wrapped up Sunday at Clarion Oaks Golf Club.
The Mountain Lions shot their best two scores of the season with rounds of 346 and 342. CU combined for 688. Host Clarion won with a 641.
Freshman
Kendra Lugo put together the best tournament of her young career with scores of 79 and 77. She placed third with a two-day total of 156. She was one shot off the pace of second place.
Among the highlights for Lugo were a total of five birdies in round one, including back-to-back red numbers on the second and third holes and the 11
th and 12
th holes. She added three birdies during the second round with consecutive birdies on the 13
th and 14
th holes.
Freshman
Reagan Friel and sophomore
Sara Matos Tamargo tied for 12
th with a total of 177. Both players shot 90 on the first day before coming back with 87s on the second day. Friel had a birdie on the third hole Saturday. Tamargo sunk a birdie on the fourth hole Saturday.
Sophomore Alley Denny was one stroke off her teammates with a total of 178 (87, 91). The fourth hole was kind to Denny as well as she birdied the par four on Saturday. She carded a second birdie on the par-3, eighth hole Sunday.
Seton Hill's Ali Boyle was the individual winner at 149.
CU begins Mountain East Conference Championship play Monday, October 5 at the Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, West Virginia.
