ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University football team scored the final 24 points of the game as it knocked off West Liberty, 44-21, Saturday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference at Callaghan Stadium.
The game was officially ended with 11:08 left in the fourth quarter due to an extended lightning that had gone for on for over an hour. Â
Down 21-20 with 5:25 left before halftime, Concord (2-2, 1-1 MEC) drove deep inside the red zone before settling for a 25-yard field goal from graduate kicker/punter
Kenyon Bowyer to grab a 23-21 lead with 1:50 left in the second quarter.

Monroe Ingraham snuffed out a late first-half West Liberty drive into Concord territory, giving CU a two-point edge at halftime.

CU's defense forced a quick three-and-out, setting up Concord's offense to drive 68 yards over five minutes to take the lead to 37-21. A one-yard plunge by graduate running back
Rashad Luckey-Dowdy capped the drive with his first touchdown of the season, but a 33-yard strike from Mizzell to Moore was the key play on the drive.

After the ensuing kickoff, the game was called due to lightning with 11:08 remaining in the game.
The teams alternated scores for the first six touchdowns of the game. Mizzell's two-first half touchdowns went to redshirt freshman wide receiver
Dom Collins, a four-yard score on the game's opening drive, and a 70-yard strike just past the halfway point of the second quarter.
The two passing touchdowns were sandwiched around a rushing touchdown by redshirt freshman quarterback

Mizzell threw for 391 yards and three touchdowns as he went 23-for-30 through the air. Collins (five receptions for 117 yards) and Concepcion (eight receptions for 112 yards) both went over 100 yards receiving.
Sophomore linebacker
Xavier Ellison and junior defensive back Nehemiah both finished with seven tackles. Ellison threw in 1.5 tackles for loss. Radcliff had his MEC-leading third interception of the year.
Concord outgained WLU 461-193 in the game with 120 of West Liberty's yards coming in the second quarter.
The Mountain Lions travel to Frostburg State 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 4.
