GAINING GROUND
Historically, Davis & Elkins has dominated the rivalry against Concord. However, in the last two seasons Concord has flipped the script, gaining at least a point in each of the last five meetings. In 2024, the teams met three times with Concord racking up two wins and a draw. The latest meeting came in the Mountain East Conference Tournament with the Mountain Lions winning a barn burner 6-4 at home,--the highest scoring MEC Tournament game of all time. The returning players that got in on the action are senior midfielder Malher Santi Possu who notched a goal and senior forward Richard Henry who picked up three assists, tying the program's single-game record.

SEARCHING FOR THE SPARK
Over the last three games, Concord has mustered just two goals and has a record of 1-2 over that span. The Mountain Lions are notoriously a highly-powered offensive team, but are looking to get back to their explosive ways they showed early in the season. Comparing this recent stretch to the start of 2025, CU netted 12 goals across the first four games, and all four of them were victories for the Mountain Lions. Concord still tops the MEC in goals (14) and assists (10) and will look to expand these numbers on Sunday when they face a Davis & Elkins team in which CU has tallied 12 goals in the last five games versus D&E.

UNLIKELY HERO
In the Mountain Lions 1-0 victory over the Wheeling Cardinals, it was senior defender Erik Lotysz heading home his first-ever Concord goal that was the difference. The game saw plenty of chances for both sides, but Lotysz was perfectly picked out by senior defender Ted Roberts on a free kick which remained the only goal of the game in the 57th minute. Lotysz is one of four other Mountain Lions to find their first goal in the Maroon and Gray this season, joining sophomore midfielder Issa El Assal, and junior forwards Dominique Malhomme and Jaden McKree.

STRONG BACKBONE
Concord's defense has been very impressive this season as well, allowing just six goals, which is tied for third best in the conference. They have also amassed three clean sheets, all of them coming against conference foes. Senior goalkeeper Nathan Scargill has been incredibly important in these contests, tallying 13 saves thus far with some brilliant diving stops last time out against Wheeling. Scargill was named to the 2024 All-MEC First Team and is continuing that form in 2025.

SCOUTING THE DAVIS & ELKINS SENATORS
The Senators are off to a good start to their season, sitting at 2-1-3 through six games of action. Their lone loss came to a non-conference opponent in Ashland University in the season opener. Since then, they have found at least a point in every contest. For the Senators, they have been very good at preventing goals, allowing just five in six games and keeping three clean sheets. Offensively, they are led by sophomore midfielder Francisco Lopez Kreik who has bagged three goals. Davis & Elkins was projected second in the MEC in the preseason poll and while they currently sit in fourth, they are very close to breaking into the top three.
