CONFERENCE OPENER
Concord opens MEC play taking on the Frostburg State Bobcats. A year ago, the Mountain Lions went 9-6 in conference play and made strides in the MEC Tournament, making their first conference semifinal game in program history. CU has improved their MEC win total every season since 2022.

FIERCE FROSTBURG
Concord and Frostburg State have only met five times in their history with CU taking a 3-2 advantage over Frostburg State. However, the matchups have been historically close. Concord leads in total sets 11-9 as the two squads have played in two five-set matches over the years. The Mountain Lions have a two-year win streak over the Bobcats. In the 2024 contest, junior outside hitter Meg Williams led the team with 13 kills and a career-high 23 digs. She also led the squad with 16 kills in the 2023 matchup, which was another double-double for Williams. Junior libero, Allie Davis had 21 digs in 2023, which was most on the team.

SETTING STANDARDS
Through the first 11 matches, Concord has had impressive play from their setters. Junior setter Paige Richmond leads the team with 5.35 assists per set, adding 2.00 digs per set to go along with it. She is already over the 200 assist mark on the season and has three double-doubles in 2025. And it's not just her putting up great numbers, as sophomore setter Haley Sweeney is contributing 4.26 assists per set and 1.80 digs per set. She has two double-doubles herself as these two have been instrumental in setting up the rest of  CU offense.

TOURNAMENT PLAY
Early-season tournament play has wrapped up as Concord went a stellar 10-1 spanning across three tournaments. CU has had four all-tournament team selections as junior outside hitter  Chloe Thompson along with Williams received nods at the Concord Classic, while freshman middle hitter Addison Adkins and Davis were voted to the Cavalier Classic All-Tournament team. The Maroon and Gray have also had two All-MEC selections thus far as Thompson was voted the MEC Offensive Player of the Week after the Virginia State Classic and Davis was voted the MEC Defensive Player of the Week after the Cavalier Classic.

SCOUTING THE FROSTBURG STATE BOBCATS
Frostburg State is off to a 4-6 start in 2025 as they are looking for their first winning season since 2017. In the MEC preseason poll, the Bobcats were predicted fourth in the north division. They are led by sophomore outside hitter Dani Kunkle who returns after a stellar freshman season. She was named an All-MEC Honorable mention and named to the All-MEC Freshman team in 2024. Frostburg State will look to continue to take strides with their young core and get back to winning ways. Through the young season, Concord and Frostburg State share just one common opponent, the Barton Bulldogs. The Mountain Lions defeated Barton in a five-set match, while the Bobcats fell to Barton in five sets in their season opener.
