WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. - The tenth-ranked Concord University men's soccer team fell to West Liberty 1-0 in a road Mountain East Conference matchup at the West Family Athletic Complex Sunday afternoon.
In the first 30 minutes, Concord (4-2, 3-2 MEC) had a plethora of chances, including five corner kicks, but could not break through the West Liberty (2-2-2, 1-1-2 MEC) defense.
However, in the 34th minute West Liberty struck first, taking a 1-0 lead. Senior goalkeeper
Nathan Scargill saved the first shot, but the rebound snuck past him.
At the half, Concord had seven corner kicks and four shots on goal, but it was the Hilltoppers who led 1-0.
After the break, it was the Hilltoppers applying the pressure. They fired three shots on goal in the first 20 minutes but Scargill rose to the occasion each time, saving all three.
Concord had nine shots to West Liberty's eight and had nine corner kicks to the Hilltoppers' five.

Dominique Malhomme led the way with two shots on goal. In net, Scargill collected four saves on five shots on goal. Senior defender
Ted Roberts led all players in the game with three shots. Junior forward
Issa El Assal attempted two shots.
Concord stays on the road, as the Mountain Lions take on Wheeling on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. for another MEC tilt.
