CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Concord University baseball team saw its season end Thursday afternoon against Fairmont State in the Mountain East Conference Tournament, falling 12-2, at GoMart Ballpark.
CU's final record is 25-27 while Fairmont State improves to 25-25 on the season.
FSU put up four runs in the bottom of the first as it scored all four runs with two outs after it appeared graduate pitcher
Zach Powell would keep the game scoreless.
Powell settled into the game and only allowed a run in the second, but Concord's offense was unable to solve Fairmont State starting pitcher Tyler Wilkinson.
The Mountain Lions managed just two hits until the seventh inning when senior infielder
AJ Strickland and senior outfielder
Demetri Jamison both hit solo home runs over a four-batter span.
Sophomore infielder
Nick DiSanti started the game with a leadoff single while senior infielder
Brendan Brady started the third with a base hit.
Powell (7-9) worked 2.2 innings before being relieved by sophomore pitcher
Jake Robinson who tallied five strikeouts out of the bullpen.
In his last career game, Brady was 2-for-3 with a double. Jamison crushed his sixth home run of the season while Strickland's seventh-inning homer was the first of his career.
