WHEELING, W.Va. – The Concord University women's basketball team lost 94-87 in overtime to Frostburg State in the quarterfinal round of the Mountain East Conference Tournament at WesBanco Arena Thursday evening.

The Mountain Lions (15-14, 11-9 MEC) overcame a seven-point deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

Senior guard
Skylar Davidson took over, netting eight points during a 14-5 spurt and saw the Maroon and Gray trail by one, 71-70, with 2:39 left in the fourth quarter. Junior forward
Imani Hickman capped off the run, knocking down a mid-range jumper to take the lead with just under two minutes remaining.

Both teams wrestled for control over the final minute of action, but a late field goal from Frostburg State (19-10, 12-8 MEC) forced overtime tied at 76-76.

CU fell into a hole early in the extra frame and never recovered, falling 94-87.

Junior guard
Kennedy Scales got Concord on the boards first, picking away a steal on the game's opening possession and went coast-to-coast for a 2-0 start 36 seconds into the game. Sophomore guard
Madison Young and Davidson rained down a pair of three-pointers to keep the Mountain Lions within one hallway through the period, 11-10.

Then, trailing 20-13, junior forward
Abbie Smith grabbed an offensive board and got the putback to fall, igniting the Concord offense. Davidson and Scales made back-to-back layups to cut the deficit to one, 20-19. Davidson concluded the opening frame with a three-point bucket at the buzzer to give the Maroon and Gray a 22-20 edge heading into the second quarter.

Smith and Hickman traded buckets to begin the second to hold a four-point advantage, 26-22. The last 5:39 of the first half featured 10 combined ties and lead changes as the game was knotted 40-40 at the break.

Davidson responded to an FSU three-pointer with a triple of her own in the opening minute of the third period. Then, tied 45-45, Young drilled another long-range basket followed by a layup from Davidson to grow the margin to five, 50-45, with 7:11 on the clock. The Bobcats crawled back throughout the remainder of the third and jumped ahead 62-58 entering the fourth.

Davidson capped off her collegiate career by scoring a team-best 24 points, dishing out eight assists, came up with four steals, and had a pair of blocks. Smith (18 points, 15 rebounds) and Hickman (15 points, 10 rebounds) both logged double-doubles in the game, marking the fourth time two Mountain Lions have recorded double-doubles in the same game this season. Sanaiya Morris ended her career with a 13-point performance along with two steals.

CU finishes its season 15-14 overall and was 11-9 against MEC competition this winter.
