SENIOR DUO
Prior to Saturday's game, head coach Todd May and the Concord men's basketball program will recognize Corey Boston and Amare Smith on their Senior Day. Boston, a junior college transfer, suits up in his 52nd career game Saturday afternoon and is slated to make his 21st career start. After averaging 6.3 points per game last year, Boston has more than doubled his production this year. In 18 games, Boston is averaging 15.3 points which is 11th in the MEC. Boston's field-goal percentage of 45.2 ranks 10th in the MEC while his free-throw percentage of 87.7 is third in the conference. The Lafayette, Alabama native is also fifth in the MEC in assists per game (3.8). Smith, the most veteran of the Mountain Lions, has appeared in 104 career games. Over his career, Smith has started in 44 games. His career point average is 8.5 as he has scored 867 career points. The Huntington, West Virginia native has canned 87 career three-pointers and is a career 80 percent free-throw shooter. Smith's career high in scoring came as a freshman when he posted 28 points against Davis & Elkins.

COMING UP CLUTCH
The Mountain Lions were able to overcome 12 three-pointers made by West Virginia Wesleyan in an 89-87 overtime win Wednesday night as junior guard Kollin Tolbert made a layup ahead of the final buzzer as part of his 36 points. Tolbert scored 10 of Concord's 12 points in overtime to bring his season total in clutch scoring—defined as points scored with the score within 10 points in the final three minutes and overtime—to 57 points. In the last eight games, Tolbert is averaging 27.8 points per contest while shooting 58.3 percent (70-for-120) from the floor. Tolbert's latest torrid pace of scoring has not been done by a CU player since Tommy Bolte averaged 33.8 points per game over an eight-game stretch during the middle part of the 2018-19 season (January 19-February 9).

FOUL LINE MARCH
Concord knocked down 26 free throws in 32 attempts (81.3 percent) at West Virginia Wesleyan Wednesday night to help in the win. Tolbert was a perfect 12-for-12 at the charity stripe while Boston was 6-for-7 in the win. Redshirt freshman guard Brendan Hoffman added a 3-for-4 showing at the foul line. Over the last six games, Tolbert is 50-for-52 (96.1 percent) at the free-throw line in the last six game, and over that stretch has recorded four different games of at least 11 free throws made. He has made 24 consecutive free throws. Tolbert's 124 made free throws this year lead the MEC. Tolbert's 50 made foul shots in the last six games are the most in a six-game stretch for CU since Bolte in November and December 2018.

EXTRA SESSIONS
Much like their win at West Virginia Wesleyan, the Mountain Lions needed overtime to knock off Davis & Elkins January 12 on the road, 78-73. CU got down as much as 12 points in the first half against the Senators in January. Tolbert was held down to six points in the contest. However, Boston stepped up with a career-best 23 points as he went 10-for-10 at the foul line. The Mountain Lions were limited to 40 percent from the field, but leaned on Boston and freshman forward Kraig Gilbert to carry the offense. The duo was a combined 11-for-20 from the floor with Gilbert knocking down a career-high three three-pointers. Gilbert finished with 13 points and grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.

RARE OCCURRENCES
CU was outrebounded at Davis & Elkins, 38-33, which was just one of five instances this year that the Maroon and Gray has been outrebounded. Concord is 3-2 this year when being beat on the boards. Additionally, Concord was bested in field-goal percentage (40.6-40.0). CU has only had six games this year where it didn't shoot better than 45 percent from the floor, 3-3 in such games. And it was just one of two times when the Mountain Lions shot worse the opposition and still came out with a win—the other victory was against West Virginia State in late November. After shooting 30 percent in the first half at D&E, Concord did recover to shoot 50 percent (16-for-32) the rest of the way.

TWO LINES
The free-throw line and three-point line could be play significant factors in Saturday's game. Concord leads the MEC in three-point percentage (38.1) and is second in free-throw percentage (76.9). The Mountain Lions are tied for 24th in Division II in each shooting category. Meanwhile, Davis & Elkins ranks 10th in the MEC in three-point percentage (31.9) and is 11th in foul shooting (65.7). The Mountain Lions also best Davis & Elkins in three-pointers made per game (8.1-6.3) and free throws made per game (18.8-11.7). In the January meeting, Concord was held to six three-pointers, but outscored D&E at the foul line (20-12) while shooting 80 percent. The Senators were 12-for-19 (63.2 percent) at the free-throw stripe.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
9- Career-high rebounds for Boston at West Virginia Wesleyan Wednesday.

26- Second-most made free throws this year for Concord in its win at WVWC.

65- Career wins that Smith has been apart of in his time at CU, the winningest player since Bolte amassed 70 wins from 2015-19.

SCOUTING THE SENATORS
D&E is trying to stop a three-game losing streak as it enters the Carter Center Saturday afternoon. The latest defeat was a 76-69 home loss to Glenville State Wednesday. Nicolas Silva is one of the most efficient players in the conference as he averages 13.4 points per game on 50.4 percent shooting. Only 44 of Silva's 234 shots have been three-pointers. Silva also hauls in a team-best 6.3 rebounds per game Charleston Ponds throws in 10.6 points per game. Silva needed 12 shots to score 10 points versus CU in January. Ja'Kobe Strozier and Dontrell Jenkins netted 14 and 12 points, respectively, against Concord.
