AKRON, Ohio – The Concord University men's basketball team was defeated 115-64 in an exhibition against Division I Akron Monday night inside James A. Rhodes Arena.
Concord fell behind 22-2 to start the game, but never let the first half get away as after consecutive three-pointers from junior
Boubacar Djigo, CU was only down 28-11. After the Zips (10-3) took a 35-11 advantage, the Mountain Lions outscored UA 14-10 over the final six minutes of the first half.
Akron led by 20 points at halftime, 45-35, and maintained at least 20-plus point lead for the remainder of the game.
Against the two-time defending Mid-American Conference (MAC) Champions, Concord canned 14 three-pointers and shot a respectable 36.8 percent from three-point range. Sophomore guard
Josiah Rickards hit on four triples as he finished with a team-best 15 points.

Micah Young all had two three-pointers in the contest. Young finished with 10 points while Djigo had eight points and five rebounds.
Wertz played a solid floor game with eight points, three rebounds and six assists. The Mountain Lions assisted on 16 of 22 made shots.
Concord returns to regular season games when it hosts non-conference foe Salem 4:00 p.m. Saturday at the Carter Center.
