ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's basketball team led wire-to-wire against Frostburg State in a 62-53 win Wednesday night at the Carter Center in a Mountain East Conference contest.
Concord (6-3, 3-0 MEC) opened up a 34-21 halftime lead after limiting Frostburg State to 26.7 percent in the first 20 minutes.
Frostburg State (4-5, 1-2 MEC) made a run on CU in the third quarter as it trimmed the deficit to seven points two different times, but a late layup in the period from senior forward
Abbie Smith restored a 44-35 lead after three quarters.

Kenyah Stubbs worked the lead back to 13 points, 48-35, with 8:46 left in the contest. FSU wasted no time by going on a quick 10-2 run over the next 2:20 to get within five, 50-45. But, Concord held Frostburg State without a point for the next four minutes.
Offensively, Smith converted a layup with 4:21 remaining, and freshman guard
Lacee Smith hit CU's only three-pointer of the second half at the 3:34 mark to take the lead back to 10 points, 55-45. However, Frostburg State wasn't done as the Bobcats got the lead down to 55-50 with 1:52 left.
Five points was as close as Frostburg State got down the stretch as Concord went 7-for-8 at the foul line over the last 70 seconds of the game.
The Maroon and Gray shot 40 percent in the opening quarter, but scored a game-high 20 points in the second quarter as they used a 15-6 run over the final 7:24 of the second quarter to open up the 13-point advantage at halftime.
CU held Frostburg State to 31 percent shooting, and the 53 points were a season-low in points allowed by Concord.
Smith (14) and Stubbs (11) were the only two Mountain Lions in double figures. Junior forward
Kiley Smich filled up the box score with seven points, a career-best nine rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Concord had a 44-42 rebounding edge with Smith adding eight rebounds, and junior guard
Alexis Frazee collecting a career-best seven boards.
The Mountain Lions will be off until Wednesday, December 17 when they travel to Point Park.
