FERRUM, Va. – The Concord University football team started fast and never looked back as it ended the 2025 season with a 56-34 win over Ferrum in a non-conference contest at W.B. Adams Stadium Saturday afternoon.
CU (4-7) scored twice in the first 5:30 of the game.
Graduate running back
Rashad Luckey-Dowdy capped the game's opening drive, a five-play, 64-yard drive, with a 10-yard touchdown run to put Concord up 7-0 at the 11:52 mark. The Mountain Lions forced their first of two interceptions as sophomore defensive back
Ky Brown picked off a pass on Ferrum's (4-7) second play from scrimmage.
Sophomore quarterback
Tyler Mizzell turned the takeaway into points quickly as he fired a 46-yard touchdown to sophomore wide receiver
Que Moore on the third play after the interception.
The Panthers got a score back with 6:44 remaining in the first quarter.
However, Mizzell connected on another touchdown to Moore, this time a 34-yard pass to extend the lead back to two possessions.
Ferrum kicked two field goals before halftime to reduce the margin to 21-13.
Early in the third quarter, sophomore
Ar'Terrian Godfrey started to make his impact on the game known. He started the third quarter with an interception on FC's second play of the second half. Again, the Mountain Lions turned the pick into points as junior running back
Israel Rhodes plunged into the end zone from two yards away to take the lead to 28-13.
On Ferrum's next possession, Godfrey broke free and blocked a punt that rolled into the end zone. Godfrey pounded on the loose ball for a touchdown with 9:34 remaining in the third quarter.
CU tacked on two four-quarter scores with redshirt freshman quarterback
Robert Shockey connecting with senior wide receiver
Rodney Mike on a 27-yard score, and Luckey-Dowdy running in a nine-yard touchdown.
Mizzell threw for 225 yards and three touchdowns. Moore went over 100 yards for the first time in his career with five receptions for 106 yards to go with his third multi-touchdown game of the season.
Luckey-Dowdy ran for a career-high 153 yards and two touchdowns.
Junior defensive back
Nehemiah Scott netted eight tackles and a sack. Freshman defensive back
Myles Pratt tallied two sacks—the second, two-sack game of the season for a CU player.Â
As part of his big game, Godfrey had three tackles, two blocked kicks, his third interception of the season and a touchdown.
Brown recorded his first career interception in his third career start at strong safety.
The 56 points were the most scored by the Mountain Lions since the final game of the 2022 season.
