Concord Sixth at the MEC Championship

DANIELS, W.Va. – The Concord University men's golf team is sixth through one round of the Mountain East Conference Championship that was contested on the Cobb Course at the Resort at Glade Springs Monday.

CU tallied a score of 314. Concord is tightly bunched with third through eighth only being separated by nine strokes. The top six teams after Tuesday's second round advance to the final round Wednesday.

Freshman Jackson Williams led the Mountain Lions with a 75 as he sported a clean card. Starting on the back, Williams bogeyed the 15th and 16th holes before finishing the round with pars on 10 of the final 11 holes. Williams is tied for 11th.

Fellow freshman Jeremy Nguyen is tied for 13th after a score of 76 Monday. Nguyen started his day with a birdie on the par-4, 10th hole. He played the back nine at 37.

Freshman Henry Lewis shot an 81 which places him in a tie for 32nd. Lewis had birdies on the par-5, 501-yard 12th hole, and another par five on the front—the par-5, 526-yard fifth hole.

Sophomore Coltan Farrell is tied for 36th with a round of 82. Fellow sophomore Jonah Willson carded an 82.

Charleston's Joan Panisello and Point Park's Milo Thim both shot 70 Monday as they co-lead the tournament after 18 holes.
