ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University men's and women's golf teams prepare for the Mountain East Conference Championship Monday through Wednesday at the Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, West Virginia.

The Mountain East Conference will provide live scoring throughout the tournament
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The tournament will be 54 holes with the men playing from the black tees, a 7,151-yard par-72 course. The women will play from the white tees, a 6,001-yard, par-72 course. The top six teams after 36 holes advance to Wednesday's final round with the top three individual on non-advancing teams also moving on to Wednesday.
MEN'S SEASON IN REVIEW
Concord is averaging 314.4 per round as a team. Freshman
Jeremy Nguyen has been the Mountain Lions' top scorer this fall with an average of 77.2. Fellow freshman
Henry Lewis has also been consistent in his first collegiate season with an average of 78.1. Lewis has a team-best 29 birdies in 11 rounds this year. In nine rounds, sophomore
Jonah Willson has averaged 79.8, including rounds of 74 at Wheeling and a 76 at Charleston.
WOMEN'S SEASON IN REVIEW
The Mountain Lions have three top-five finishes in three of the four events they have played in this fall, including winning the Pipestem Collegiate September 15-16. CU is most recently coming off a third-place team finish at Clarion last weekend. Freshman
Kendra Lugo is the reigning MEC Golfer of the Week after placing third at Clarion with scores of 79 and 77. She has shot an average of 79.3 in eight rounds this season. Sophomore
Sara Matos Tamargo is second on the team in scoring (92.3), and is coming off her best consecutive rounds of the year (90, 87). Freshman
Reagan Friel is shooting 94.7 in her first year of college golf. Sophomore
Alexandria Denny has steadily improve this fall and is averaging 95.6.
MEC CHAMPIONSHIP NOTES
The CU men are seeking to advance to the final round of the MEC Championship for the first time since 2021. The Mountain Lions finished eighth last year at the conference tournament. Willson was 41
st with rounds of 87 and 82. Sophomore
Coltan Farrell had a pair of 90s in 46
th. Charleston is the defending MEC Champion after holding off Davis & Elkins and West Liberty by two strokes.
The lineup for Concord will be Nguyen, Lewis, Willson, freshman
Jackson Williams and Farrell.
The Mountain Lion women are coming off their best finish at the MEC Championship in program history, placing fourth in 2024. Matos Tamargo scored a top-25 finish at last year's conference championship. Denny notched a 28
th-place showing. The Mountain Lions held off West Virginia Wesleyan by a stroke for last year's fourth-place finish. Glenville State is the two-time defending MEC Champion.
CU's lineup will be Lugo, Matos Tamargo, Friel and Denny.
