Concord Beats Davis & Elkins, 3-1

ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team avenged a scoreless draw with Davis & Elkins earlier season as it defeated the Senators, 3-1, Wednesday night in a Mountain East Conference game at Callaghan Stadium.

CU (8-5-3, 7-3-3 MEC) got two goals in the first 15 minutes to race out on the Senators (1-10-5, 0-9-4 MEC).

In the ninth minute, sophomore midfielder Tiana Campbell received a pass just outside the 18-yard box from senior defender Sophia Chugha. Campbell was able to turn on her defender and blast a shot to the right corner of the goal for her MEC-leading 11th goal of the year.

Sophomore midfielder Stephanie Tovar doubled the CU lead in the 15th minute as she found herself on a counter attack with Campbell. From the midfield, Campbell touched a pass onto Tovar who took a couple touches and tallied her fourth goal of the season.

The first half overall was fairly quiet in terms of offense with just seven total shots.

D&E sliced the Concord lead in half with its only shot of the goal for the game, a sharp-angled shot from the top right of the penalty area that found the back of the net in the 59th minute.

Despite outshooting the Senators 13-3 for the game, Concord did not get its insurance goal until the 85th minute. Senior forward Caitlin Webster flipped a pass to Campbell who touched on to freshman midfielder Daisy Cook. Cook then volleyed a shot with her left foot past the Davis & Elkins goalkeeper for her fourth goal in 2025.

Campbell took five shots (two on goal). Both shots for junior defender Katie Garratt were on frame.

Chugha picked up her first career point with an assist on Campbell's goal. Campbell notched her first career two-assist game. And Webster recorded her MEC-best eighth assist of the game.

The Mountain Lions travel to West Virginia Wesleyan 1:00 p.m. Sunday, seeking a season sweep of the Bobcats.
