DOWN TO THE WIRE
Concord has four games left in its season with two on at home and two on the road. While currently sitting at 10-3-1 overall and 8-3 in the MEC on the season, conference tournament seeding is soon to be decided. The Mountain Lions currently sit in second place, only trailing nationally-ranked Charleston, 27-24. Davis & Elkins is just behind with 20 points.
SEASON SWEEP ON THE LINE
One of the biggest matches remaining on the schedule comes this Sunday when CU travels to Elkins. The Senators sit behind Concord in third place trailing by four points. A positive result for the Mountain Lions would do wonders to try and lock down at least second place in the MEC. Concord won the first matchup at home 2-1, with goals from graduate student Raheem Baptiste and the game-winner from senior midfielder
Mahler Santi Possu.
SANTI'S SUCCESS
Speaking of Possu, he's been incredible for the Mountain Lions this season. Possu leads the MEC with 10 goals, 23 points, and 40 shots. Possu finished with the same exact stat line that he has right now in 2024, and still has four games to improve upon them. Nationally, Possu is tied for third in goals and tied for fourth in points.
THE FINAL NON-CON
Concord's last non-conference matchup comes Wednesday at home against Emory & Henry. The Mountain Lions have faced off against the Wasps in each of the last two seasons, coming away with a 6-2 win in 2024 and a 2-1 victory in 2023. In the 2024 matchup, Possu finished with a hat trick and an assist. Senior defender Kai Forsyth knocked in a goal. Both senior defender
Ted Roberts and sophomore midfielder
Andy Cruz picked up an assist in the high-scoring match.
SCOUTING THE DAVIS & ELKINS SENATORS
Davis & Elkins is having another solid season in 2025. Currently third in the MEC, the Senators are coming off a 2-1 win over the Wheeling Cardinals. Senior forward Chinedu Ikem has emerged as one of the top scorers in the lead with five goals. In net, they have one of the premier keepers in the conference in
Charlie Phillips. D&E have just allowed 12 goals on the season and Phillips is a big reason why, coming up with 36 saves. Sophomore forward
Hugo Fauli ranks second in the MEC with six assists, and he's been a catalyst for the Senator offense.
SCOUTING THE EMORY & HENRY WASPS
After starting the season with three straight losses, the Wasps haven't lost since September 14th and that was to a top-five ranked Anderson squad. They are currently tied for third in the South Atlantic Conference with a 4-1-2 record. Forward Jean-Charles Eyidi, leads the team with nine points, contributing three goals and three assists.
