UPCOMING MILESTONES
A pair of juniors are closing in on some exclusive history in the CU volleyball record book. Outside hitter Meg Williams currently has 994 kills under her belt and is just six away from breaking the 1,000-kill mark. Only six players have ever reached that number in program history. Libero
Allie Davis has tallied 1,429 career digs and sits 71 digs away from the elusive 1,500 clip that only four Mountain Lions have ever reached. As a team, Concord is one win away from tying their program high of 18 wins, most since joining the Mountain East Conference in 2013.Â
MERCER COUNTY MATCHUP
Concord and Bluefield State are set to duke it out once more this season as the teams will meet for a 38th time, with Concord holding a 28-9 advantage in the series. The Mountain Lions have defeated the Big Blues in four of the last five meetings, including three straight victories. The two have met already this year at the Concord Classic, where CU defeated Bluefield State 3-1 behind a career game from sophomore right side Maddie Stull. Stull notched a career-high 17 kills in the four-setter. Last time in Bluefield, Concord swept BSU and junior outside hitter
Chloe Thompson collected a match-best 13 kills.
PERFECT IN FIVE
Concord has gone the distance in four matches in 2025, winning each of them. The Mountain Lions five-set victories include wins over Shepherd, Barton, West Virginia Wesleyan and most recently Salem. A season ago, Concord played in six five-set matches, posting a record of 4-2.
BIG WEEKEND AHEAD
Following the midweek match with Bluefield State, Concord hosts the top two teams in the MEC North Division, Wheeling and West Liberty. Concord has never defeated Wheeling in its 32 tries, and CU took its first set off the Cardinals last year since 1999. The Mountain Lions scored a massive 3-2 victory over West Liberty in the MEC Quarterfinals, just their third over the Hilltoppers in program history.
SCOUTING THE BLUEFIELD STATE BIG BLUE
After a difficult non-conference schedule, Bluefield State has played really well in conference play to the tune of a 8-2 record in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). Big Blue are led by junior outside hitter Soniya Garner who averages 2.45 kills per set and is the only player with over 200 total kills on the season.Â
