ROAD WARRIORS
Concord has surprisingly been a better team away from home than at Callaghan Stadium in 2025, posting a stellar 5-1 record away from Athens. The Maroon and Gray have won three straight contests on the road including a 1-0 win at Wheeling, a 3-1 win at Salem, and a 2-0 win at Point Park. In 2024, CU finished with a 7-4-1. In Wednesday's win at Point Park, junior forward Dominique Malhomme scored his fourth goal of the season while sophomore midfielder Adam Leibowitz netted his first career goal in the second half.
REVERSING HISTORY
West Virginia Wesleyan owns the all-time series over Concord by a hefty margin. However in recent years, Concord is slowly but surely working it back in their favor. In the last five meetings between the two, Concord has taken at least a point in each of the last five matchups and the Mountain Lions have won the last four meetings outright. In their meeting earlier this year in Buckhannon, it was sophomore midfielder Issa El Assal netting a late game-winner in the 85th to propel the Mountain Lions to a 1-0 victory.
HOME STRETCH
In the blink of an eye, the 2025 regular season is coming to an end. Concord will play four of their six remaining matchups at home with fixtures against WVWC, Salem, Emory & Henry, and West Liberty. With all of these squads sporting losing records, besides Emory & Henry, Concord will have chances to improve their record ahead of the MEC Tournament.
OPEN PLAY SUCCESS
Against Point Park, Concord scored both of their goals in open play. This is a big contrast compared to the four penalty kick goals they had netted over the last three games. In Pittsburgh, it was junior forward Malhomme rifling in his fourth goal of the year after being flicked on by senior midfielder
Mahler Santi Possu. Their second goal came from Leibowitz who netted his first collegiate goal after a nice ball from senior midfielder
Toby Evens-Gilham found him in the 18-yard box.
SCOUTING THE WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN BOBCATS
West Virginia Wesleyan is seventh in the MEC entering the weekend. For the Bobcats, the issue has been scoring goals. As a team, they have just nine goals on the season, one of only two teams in the conference to have less than ten. Senior forward Casey Bunker has scored four times and is the only player with multiple goals on the team.
SCOUTING THE SALEM TIGERS
While it has been a tough season for Salem, they are coming off of their biggest win of the season. The Tigers took down Frostburg State on the road, 2-0. Their leading goal scorers, CJ Branch and
Caleb Christner each scored in the victory. For Salem, Branch and Christner have generated the bulk of Salem's offense as they each have five goal contributions. The Tigers will look for the first win against Concord since 2018.
