Kendra Lugo of the Concord University women's golf team has been selected as the Mountain East Conference Golfer of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, the league office released Wednesday afternoon.
Lugo, a native of New Port Richey, Florida, finished third at the Golden Eagle Autumn Invite hosted by Clarion over the weekend. Lugo shot rounds of 79 and 77 as her total of 156 was just one stroke off a runner-up finish.
She carded a total of eight birdies in the 36-hole tournament with five birdies coming in the first round. Lugo put up a red number on the par-5, 14
th hole on both days at Clarion Oaks Golf Club. Additionally, Lugo played the back nine at four-over for the tournament with 38s on both days.
Lugo's individual performance helped Concord finish third as a team.
Wednesday's announcement is CU's first conference golfer of the week since October 2017.
The Mountain Lions are preparing for the MEC Championship that gets under Monday at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, West Virginia.
