Then, sophomore guard
Alexis Frazee knocked down a pair of three-point buckets to extend the margin to double digits, 52-42, at the 2:22 mark. CU forced a Senators' (1-12, 1-6 MEC) turnover on the next possession and Smith capped the spurt with another layup in the paint as CU took a 58-48 lead into the fourth.
Senior guard
Faith Diggs scored four straight points to begin the final period of action to keep the lead at 10, 62-52. However, D&E brought the score as close as 66-63 with 4:27 to work, but Concord held on for its third straight MEC victory, 73-69.
After Davis & Elkins scored the game's first two points, junior forward
Imani Hickman drained a pair of three-pointers that helped build an 8-2 advantage. Sophomore guard
Madison Young found the net on a three-pointer midway through the frame, but a late run from the Senators saw D&E carry an 18-16 lead into the second quarter.
Back-to-back blocks from Young and Frazee to start the second period kept Davis & Elkins off the board, as Frazee scored her first basket in the Maroon and Gray to knot the score at 18-18 two minutes into the frame. While D&E led by as many as nine in the quarter, CU commanded a 7-0 run to end the first half to trail 35-33 at the break.
Junior guard
Kennedy Scales helped get the Mountain Lion within a bucket at half with a transition two.
Smith led Concord with 19 points and notched another double-double with 19 boards. Davidson pitched in a season-high 18 points offensively while also adding six assists and five steals. Frazee's strong third quarter helped her finish in double figures with 11 points. The early action for Hickman aided in her tallying 10 points in the contest.
