ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio – The Concord University women's golf team placed fifth at the West Virginia Wesleyan/Glenville State Invite played at Belmont Hills County Club Friday and Saturday.
Concord recorded scores of 369 and 376 to finish at 745 for the tournament.
Graduate student
Mary Denny finished 12
th in the field as she carded rounds of 86 and 79. Her day two score tied a season best, and was the seventh career round in the 70s for the Mount Hope, West Virginia native. Denny's total of 165 was just five strokes out of the top five.
Senior
Anna Fry had rounds of 95 and 93 as her total of 188 was just outside the top 20 in 21
st. Freshman
Sara Matos Tamargo was two strokes behind Fry as she wrapped up at 190 after scores of 87 and 103 to place 22
nd. Her first round of 87 tied a season low.
Freshman
Autumn Bowles carded a pair of 101s and finished 27
th. Fellow freshman
Alexandria Denny was 29
th at 218.
West Virginia Wesleyan's Sydney Baird was the individual champion by one stroke over Bluefield State's Candela Lopez (157-158).
Glenville State was 13 strokes better than Fairmont State for the team title.
The Mountain Lions play at the Mountain East Conference Championship October 7-9 at Glade Springs Resort in Daniels, West Virginia.
