BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Junior defender
Ted Roberts of the Concord University men's soccer team has been voted as the Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, the league office Monday afternoon.
Roberts, a native of Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, earns the nod after his three-point week.
On Wednesday, Roberts not only helped the Mountain Lions to a 4-0 shutout win over West Liberty, but he was responsible for half the goals in the contest. Roberts assisted on a 57
th-minute goal off a corner kick before scoring on a free kick in the 74
th minute. Roberts and his backline teammates helped limit WLU to three shots on goal.
On Sunday, Roberts and Concord tied Davis & Elkins, 1-1, as the Maroon and Gray has gotten off to a 2-0-1 start this season.
Point Park's Nils Benning and Frostburg State's Hugo Portillo were named MEC Co-Offensive Players of the Week. Â
CU travels to West Virginia Wesleyan 7:00 p.m. Wednesday for an MEC matchup. Â
