Nicholson's Goal - Fan Poll - Share on X - Share on Instagram - Share on Facebook
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Junior midfielder
Andre Nicholson of the Concord University men's soccer team has been nominated for Mountain East Conference Play of the Year, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Nicholson's nomination comes from his game-winning goal in the MEC Quarterfinals versus West Virginia Wesleyan.
With CU and Wesleyan tied at 2-2 deep into double overtime, Nicholson buried his second goal of the game with less than a minute remaining before penalty kicks were due to decide the game.
The significance of Nicholson's goal was not only propelling Concord to the MEC Semifinals, but giving the Mountain Lions' men's soccer program its first conference postseason win in program history. Previously, Concord's only other conference tournament appearance was in 2001.
