Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Places Seven on CSC Academic All-District Team

ATHENS, W.Va. – A total of seven student-athletes from the Concord University cross country and women's track & field teams have been honored on the College Sports Communicators' (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization released Tuesday afternoon.

Junior Madison Cornett, sophomore Lilly Jackson, sophomore Emma Londeree, senior Alaina Mills, senior Taylor Perry, sophomore Katy Walkup and graduate student Emily Wallace all found their names on the CSC Academic All-District Team.

Cornett, a native of Beckley, West Virginia, made the All-Mountain East Conference Second Team for the first time in her career during the cross country season. She ranked 16th in the 10,000-meter run in the Atlantic Region before her outdoor season was cut short due to injury. With six semesters of college under her belt, Cornett has a 3.83 GPA in biology. She has made six appearances on the CU Dean's List and is a four-time member of the All-MEC Academic Team.

A health science major, Jackson carries a 3.80 GPA in the classroom. The Union, West Virginia native made an impact during her sophomore outdoor campaign by placing fourth in the javelin at the MEC Championships and finishing sixth in the long jump. Additionally, Jackson set personal records in each event at the conference meet: javelin (32.69 meters) and long jump (5.00). Jackson has been a member of Concord's Dean's List three times.

Londeree, the Barboursville, West Virginia native, made the MEC Championship in the 10,000-meter run for the second straight season in the spring. Her qualifying time of 43:44 in event to open the spring campaign at Myrtle Beach was a personal record. A computer science major, Londeree sports a 3.74 GPA academically. She has appeared on the Concord Dean's List four times, and is a two-time honoree on the All-MEC Academic Team.

Mills wrapped up her college career in the spring after marking the third-best javelin throw in the MEC during the regular season with a mark of 31.81 meters at Lynchburg. In 2023, Mills scored points in the javelin at the MEC Championships. She has made the MEC Commissioner's Honor Roll four times. The Huntington, West Virginia native finished up her academic career with a 3.53 GPA in elementary education.

Perry, a native of Hico, West Virginia, became a steady multi athlete over her career. This past year, Perry finished fifth in the indoor pentathlon at the MEC Championship and picked up a seventh-place finish in the heptathlon. She closed strong with career-best points in both events this year: pentathlon (1,636) and heptathlon (2,150). Seven of Perry's eight semester of undergrad resulted on the Concord's Dean's List. She graduated with honors in elementary education after finishing with a 3.63 GPA.

Walkup has landed on the All-MEC Second Team twice in her cross country career. The Summersville, West Virginia native ranked top 30 in the Atlantic Region in the indoor 5,000-meter run. She was also top 50 in the indoor 3,000-meters as well as the 10,000-meters. For the second straight year, Walkup scored points in the 10,000-meters at the MEC Outdoor Championships. In the classroom, Walkup carries a 3.91 GPA in biology.

One of the most decorated athletes in program history, Wallace closed her career by being named All-Atlantic Region in cross country for the third straight season. She is one of two athletes in cross country program history to earn All-MEC First Team four times. Furthermore, the Dry Fork, Virginia native was named All-Atlantic Region in three events between the indoor and outdoor track seasons this past season. As an elementary education major, Wallace earned her educational leadership master's degree this spring, finishing up graduate school with a 4.0 GPA—she had a 3.58 GPA in undergrad work.

To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District consideration, student-athletes must be of sophomore standing, have 3.5 or high cumulative GPA and be ranked in the top 50 in the Atlantic Region in an event or have finished top 50 in cross country.

Cornett, Jackson, Perry, Walkup and Wallace all advance to the national ballot for Academic All-American consideration.
