FROSTBURG, Md. – The Concord University baseball team lost two games at Frostburg State in the Mountain East Conference opener for both teams Saturday afternoon at Bob Wells Field.
Concord drops to 7-7 this season while Frostburg State improves to 9-5.
Game 1: Frostburg State 12 – Concord 5
Concord tallied five runs in the sixth inning, but it came with the Mountain Lions already facing a 10-run deficit.
The Bobcats scored in their first four at-bats with three of those innings producing multiple runs.
In the sixth inning, three straight one-out hits tallied a run for Concord with freshman outfielder

Chris Satcher. Two batters later, freshman catcher
Marshall Basham drew a bases-loaded walk.
Junior utility
MJ Hunter added to the rally with a two-out, two-run single to bring the margin to 10-4. And fifth-year senior infielder
Zack Saryeldin capped the rally with a double to score Basham.
But, it was close as CU would get as FSU homered in the bottom of the sixth inning for the final margin of victory.
Hunter was 2-for-4 with two RBI at the top of the order. Sophomore utility
Dawson Gragg and junior outfielder
Demetri Jamison were both 2-for-3 with a run scored. Junior infielder
Brendan Brady added two hits.
Graduate pitcher
Andrew Neff (2-2) tossed four innings as he allowed six earned runs and struck out four.
Game 2: Frostburg State 11 – Concord 0
FSU's bats stayed hot in the second contest as it led 8-0 after two innings.
A double play and a two-out single into left field produced the game's first two runs in the first inning before the Bobcats exploded for six runs in the second.
Concord was able to piece together a rally in the sixth inning as back-to-back two-out singles by Saryeldin and senior infielder
Daniel Layne threatened the shutout, but Frostburg State got out of the jam.
Layne went 2-for-3 in the contest. Hunter and Saryeldin were responsible for a hit each in front of Layne in the order.
Junior pitcher
Rylee Nicholas (2-1) surrendered six earned runs in 1.2 innings.
The Mountain Lions stay on the road to face Fairmont State 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Mylan Park in Morgantown, West Virginia.
