Concord Matches Single-Season Program Wins Record in 4-1 Victory at Salem

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Concord University men's soccer team scored three unanswered goals to defeat Salem 4-1 Sunday afternoon in a non-conference game at The Bridge Sports Complex.

With Sunday's win, Concord matches (13-2-2) the single-season program record for wins with its 13th victory. Additionally, CU extends its win streak to nine games.

Tied 1-1 at halftime, the Mountain Lions scored twice in a seven-minute span to open up a 3-1 lead. First it was senior forward Fabian Amhof continuing his scoring spree—netting his fifth goal in the last four games—in the 60th minute off an assist from junior defender Julian Correa.

Junior midfielder Malher Santi Possu was involved in the scoring in the 67th minute as he connected on his team-best ninth goal after freshman midfielder Andy Cruz passed to Possu for the insurance score.

With CU up 3-1, sophomore forward Syrus Conolly completed his first career brace with a goal in the 89th minute. Conolly opened up the scoring in the sixth minute on an assist from Amhof. Junior midfielder Ben Hailes had the assist on Conolly's first goal.

After the early Concord goal, Salem (4-11-2) tied the game in the 25th minute.

The Mountain Lions limited SU to seven shots for the game. On the other end, Concord had double-digit shots in each half as the Maroon and Gray finished with 24 shots.

Possu recorded seven shots while four other Concord players tallied three shots each.

Junior goalkeeper Miguel Oliveria stopped five shots in his first start since September 29.
