ON A HEATER
Junior forward
Richard Henry tied the game versus New Haven in the 71
st minute with his sixth goal of the season. It was the second straight game in which Henry has scored after he netted a goal in the Mountain East Conference Championship versus Charleston. The Middlesex, Jamaica native matched the single-game program record with three assists against Davis & Elkins in the MEC Semifinals prior to the Charleston contest. And Henry had gone four consecutive games without a point and had not scored a goal in six games. Henry now has six goals and a team-best eight assists this year.
SOME INSTANT CLASSICS
Concord and Charleston meet up for the fourth time this season. The two sides split a pair of regular-season meetings before UC's 3-1 win Sunday evening in the conference championship tilt. Henry has scored in both games played at the Welch Athletic Complex this season, including a game-tying goal in the 60th minute September 25 before Charleston scored in the final three minutes to take down the Mountain Lions, 2-1. On November 6 in Athens, Concord raced out to a 3-0 lead in the first half before holding off the Golden Eagles in a 3-2 victory. Sophomore forward
Syrus Conolly scored in the ninth and 36
th minutes at home two weeks ago while junior defender
Julian Correa opened the scoring in the seventh minute off a corner kick from junior defender
Ted Roberts.
HIGH-POWERED OFFENSES
Two of the top five offenses in Division II clash Sunday afternoon. Charleston ranks second in the country in goals scored (59). Meanwhile, CU is tied with Fort Hays State for third in Division II with 57 goals. The Mountain Lions have yet to be shutout this season, and have scored three or more goals ten times, including the November 6 regular-season game versus Charleston. CU's defense led by junior goalkeeper
Nathan Scargill will have its work cut out versus a UC side that has only been blanked once this season—the season opener at Tiffin. The Golden Eagles have scored three or more goals 11 times. Scargill saved seven shots versus UC in the MEC Championship, and is coming off a career-high nine saves against New Haven Friday.
