INDIANAPOLIS – The Concord University men's soccer team has qualified for the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time in program history, the NCAA released during the Division II Men's Soccer Selection Show Monday evening.

The Mountain Lions, already with a program-record 15 wins in their hip pocket, qualified as the nine seed in the Super Region One for the national tournament and will face the eight seed New Haven in the first round of the tournament that gets underway Friday at the University of Charleston's Welch Athletic Complex in Charleston, West Virginia. Kickoff is slated for 3:00 p.m.

If Concord advances in the tournament, it would face one seed Charleston in the Round of 32 or the regional quarterfinal round.

Friday will be the first meeting in program history against the Chargers of New Haven who hail from West Haven, Connecticut and play in the Northeast 10 Conference.

CU enters the national tournament with a record of 15-3-2 while UNH is 12-4-3. More information will be posted on cumountainlions.com as it becomes available.
