ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team took down Mountain East Conference foe Glenville State 3-0 in the final contest of the regular season at the Carter Center Friday evening.

CU finishes the regular season at 16-15 and 9-6 against MEC competition while GSU falls to 3-25 and 1-14 in league action. The final set scores were 25-10, 25-22, and 25-17.

Set 1
After GSU scored the first two points of the game, senior middle hitter

Natalie Brown got Concord going with kills followed by a pair of blocks led by sophomore middle hitter
Jasmine Anderson to lead 4-2. Then, leading 9-6, the Mountain Lions commanded a 7-0 run to lead by 10. Sophomore outside hitter
Meg Williams and freshman middle hitter
Ella Moss got the spurt going and Anderson smashed back-to-back-to-back kills to end it. Pilant picked up two more kills in the closing moments to give CU a 1-0 lead, 25-10. The Maroon and Gray swung .407 in the set and only committed two attack errors on 27 attempts.

Set 2
Both teams went back-and-forth to begin the second set, but GSU pulled ahead 8-5 after a five-point swing. However, a kill from sophomore middle hitter
Meagan Poticher and an ace from Moss tied the frame 9-9. With both teams jockeying for the advantage yet again, CU charged a 6-1 run to hold a 18-15 edge. Brown and Pilant added kills and came together for a block to give Concord the lead back. The Mountain Lions did not lose the advantage the rest of the way, relying on blocks assists from Brown, Pilant, and Anderson to take a 2-0 lead in the contest.

Set 3
Moss quickly got CU on the board, picking up a kill and teaming up with Pilant for another block. Sophomore defensive specialist
Allie Davis added an ace to give CU a 6-2 lead. The Pioneers regained the control, 12-11, but Williams responded to knot the set and eventually hold a 17-13 edge. The Mountain Lions scored eight of the final nine points in the match to complete the sweep in the regular season finale. Moss and Pilant swung for kills and combined for another team block while Williams delivered the final kill to end the game.

Match Stats
Pilant led Concord with nine kills followed by Brown and Williams with six each. CU tallied 14 blocks in the match led by Anderson with seven, tying her career-best. Pilant (six), Brown (five), and Moss (four) also contributed on the defensive end. Sophomore setter
Paige Richmond led the Maroon and Gray with 15 assists and two aces while Tooze chipped in 10 assists. Davis finished with 16 digs and a team-best three aces.

The Mountain Lions will head to the Mountain East Conference Tournament November 21-23.
