HISTORICAL NIGHT
The Mountain Lions picked off nationally-ranked, number-two rated Charleston 3-2 to close the regular season last Wednesday. It was Concord's first win over a nationally-ranked team in program history as it previously been 0-29, and it was the first win for CU over Charleston in program history as the Maroon and Gray had lost all 40 previous meetings. Sophomore forward Syrus Conolly scored two of the three goals as he netted scores in the ninth and 36th minutes. He became the fourth different CU player with a brace this season, joining sophomore forward Ignacio Alvarez Maina, senior forward Fabian Amhof and junior midfielder Malher Santi Possu. Concord has now won 10 straight games which is the longest active winning streak in Division II.

THE NEW SEASON BEGINS
Concord qualified for the MEC Tournament for the second straight year, and Wednesday's contest marks the first time in program history that CU hosts a conference tournament game on campus. Last season, the Maroon and Gray knocked off West Virginia Wesleyan in the MEC Quarterfinals, 3-2, in a game at the YMCA Cline Complex in Beckley, West Virginia. The Mountain Lions used a goal in the 110th minute to take out West Virginia Wesleyan. Last year was the first conference tournament win in program history for CU. Additionally, Concord also broke a 23-year drought of not qualifying for the conference postseason last fall.

LATE DRAMA
Concord and Davis & Elkins were mixed up in two regular-season meetings that required late scoring to determine the final result. At D&E in the middle of September, junior forward Patrick Alouidor scored one of his two goals on the season in the 83rd minute as the sides settled for a 1-1 draw. Junior goalkeeper Miguel Oliveria came on and made three saves in the final 78 minutes after replacing fellow junior goalkeeper Nathan Scargill who left with injury. Neither CU or D&E could find the back of the net in the first 80 minutes of the October 27 meeting. Conolly's penalty kick in the 81st minute opened the scoring before Alvarez Maina scored off a corner kick in the 85th minute, and sophomore defender Zakari Messam had a breakaway goal in the closing seconds of a 3-1 win. The Senators had an equalizer in the 84th minute, and had a second chance at equalizing, but missed a penalty kick in the 89th minute.

SCOUTING THE SENATORS
Davis & Elkins comes to Athens riding a modest four-game winning streak since the loss in late October to CU. During the winning streak, D&E has outscored teams 16-1 that includes a 3-1 win over West Virginia Wesleyan in the MEC Quarterfinals Sunday. Johan Magana leads the MEC in scoring with 14 goals after he scored two Sunday. Dom Castano and Hugo Fauli each have five goals. D&E's 20 goals allowed are third fewest in the MEC and just one behind Concord for second.
