DANIELS, W.Va. – The Concord University men's golf team finished ninth on day one of the Mountain East Conference Championship held at The Resort at Glade Springs Cobb Course Monday.
As a team, the Mountain Lions totaled 341 (+53) in the opening round of the tournament. Charleston owns a one stroke lead on the field as the Golden Eagles sit in first place after firing a 293 team total.
Freshman
Kelly Pimenov II had the lowest opening round score for CU, carding an 81 after shooting 40 on the front nine and 41 on the back nine. Pimenov birdied the par-five 12th to and is 32
nd.
Senior
Indiana Eades shot 86 (+14) and sits at 40th in the field. Eades began his round with a 39 on the opening nine, sinking a birdie on the par-4 10th.
Senior
Peyton Watts and freshman
Jonah Willson both shot 87 (+15). Watts shot a 41 on the back nine while Willson finished with a 41 on the back nine.
Freshman
Coltan Farrell was the final competitor for Concord, ending his first round with a 90 (+18).
Charleston's William Carestam leads individual players scoring a 69 (-3). Wheeling's Robin Duzman (70) and Ryan Courtney (71) also fired rounds under par in round one.
The Mountain Lions begin round two Tuesday at 8:00 a.m.
