TOP OF THE LEAGUE
Sophomore defensive specialist
Allie Davis has played her way into the top 30 among Division II in digs per set this fall. The Jonesburough, Tenn. native has recorded at least 20 digs in five straight games, the2 longest stretch in her career. On September 21, she tied her previous career-high of 29 digs against Pikeville in a 3-1 Mountain Lions win. Through 53 sets played in 2024, Davis is averaging exactly 5.0 digs per set. Along with her defensive success, she has also been contributing in other ways for CU this season. Her 10 aces are the fourth most on the squad this fall, as well as offering 38 assists. Davis also has a kill in two of her last four matches, something she had not done in her first 42 career starts.

SERVE IT UP
It was all about the serve and receive game when Concord and Charleston faced each other in 2023. Although Charleston came away with the win in both games, it was CU that served 11 aces when the Golden Eagles came to the Carter Center. Sophomore setter
Paige Richmond led all players with five service aces in the match. Sophomore outside hitter
Meg Williams and Davis added two aces each and senior middle hitter
Kyndra Pilant and sophomore setter
Declyn Tooze contributed one ace each. On the other side, UC served up nine aces on the Mountain Lions when they traveled to the Capital City last September. This season, the Golden Eagles rank first in the league in service aces but give up the third-most aces. Â
Â
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
CU's 2023 season opener at UVa.-Wise in the Cavalier Classic marked the first career game for seven freshman that contributed to a record-breaking year. Williams (18) and sophomore outside hitter
Chloe Thompson (13) notched double-digit kill games while Thompson added 26 digs that still stands as her career-high and her first double-double. Freshman right side
Natalie Brown hit for nine kills on a .429 hitting percentage and added a block. Richmond had 33 assists and Tooze logged a double-double with 16 assists and 15 digs. Davis also recorded 24 digs in the 3-1 win. This freshman class would help CU win 16 games and reach the MEC Tournament for the first time in six years. Also, the Mountain Lions started the season 10-3 which stands as the program's best start since 2003. Â
