THE SENIOR GAME
Head coach
Alex Smith will recognize seven seniors prior to Sunday's contest versus Davis & Elkins. The senior class is made up of forward
Fabian Amhof, midfielder
Tomas Fanello, defender
Valentin Fernandez, midfielder
Davis Johnson, goalkeeper
Jayden Mitchell, midfielder
Noah Stanley and forward
Carlos Zuniga. Amhof, an All-MEC Second Team selection last season, has nine career goals over two seasons at CU. Amhof became the third Concord player with a two-goal game this season after netting both goals in a 2-1 win at West Liberty Wednesday. Fanello has played in 26 career games over four seasons at Concord. Fernandez has appeared in 25 career games over parts of three seasons and has started 10 contests. Johnson has come off the bench in four games this season after being elevated from the reserve team. Mitchell has been on the reserve team through his career at Concord, and the same goes from Stanley. Zuniga has been slowed by injury this season, but played in 11 games last year as a transfer.
KEEP THE STREAK
Thanks in part to Amhof's goals at West Liberty, the Mountain Lions enter the weekend tied for the fourth-longest winning streak in Division II having won six consecutive games dating back to October 6 versus Salem. During the streak, CU has had nine different scorers, including two goals each from sophomore forward
Ignacio Alvarez Maina and junior midfielder Mahler Santi Possu. Amhof has tallied all three of his goals for the season over the last four games. And during the win streak, junior goalkeeper
Nathan Scargill has saved 15 of 18 shots on target, and has posted three shutouts.
KEEP THE STREAK PART II
The Mountain Lions have earned a result in three straight games versus Davis & Elkins with two ties to go with a win at home last season. CU has also won both all-time meetings with Emory & Henry. Earlier this season, junior midfielder
Patrick Alouidor found the back of the net in the 83
rd minute to help Concord to a 1-1 draw at Davis & Elkins. The Maroon and Gray outshot the Senators 12-7 in the contest. Wednesday marks the second straight year that CU faces Emory & Henry after defeating E&H 2-1 last year. Alvarez accounted for a goal in the 50
th minute while Amhof recorded an assist on a 54
th-minute score.
