PIPESTEM, W.Va. – The Concord University women's cross country team won the Concord Alumni Invite at Pipestem State Park Friday afternoon.
CU nearly perfect-scored the meet with 17 points. Second place was Charleston with 42 points.
Senior
Madison Cornett picked up the individual victory for the Mountain Lions as she was the only athlete to break 20 minutes for the 5,000-meter course, clocking 19:53. Junior
Katy Walkup was just off Cornett's pace as she clocked 20:02 as the runner-up.
Sophomores
Sara Turner (21:18) and
Charlotte McGinnis (21:32) occupied fourth and fifth places. The final scoring runner for the Mountain Lions was sophomore
Abbey Londeree who finished eighth in a time of 21:47.
Sophomore
Piper Doughton was 11
th with a time of 23:08. Senior
Kaylee Dixon clocked 23:17, good enough for 13
th. Senior
Baylee Bentley rounded out the CU field as she placed 20
th in 26:08.
Friday concluded the regular season for the Mountain Lions. Next up is the Mountain East Conference Championship Saturday, October 26 at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia.
