GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Concord University volleyball team defeated Mountain East Conference foe Glenville State 3-0 at the Waco Center Tuesday evening.

Concord won the first and third sets 25-17 and took the second set 25-13.
With the win, CU improves to 9-11 overall on the season and 4-2 in MEC play while Glenville State falls to 3-13 and 1-5 against MEC competition.

Set 1
Sophomore outside hitters
Chloe Thompson and
Meg Williams connected on a pair of kills to give Concord an early 3-1 lead. After GSU tied the set 3-3, the Mountain Lions scored four-straight points to retake the lead. Sophomore setter

Paige Richmond followed by kills from Brown and Thompson capped off five straight CU points to open set two. Then, Williams picked up a solo block as part of a three-point swing that extended the score to 10-2. Thompson, Tooze, and freshman right side
Maddie Stull hit for three consecutive kills as CU led by nine, 15-6. Pilant connected on a kill then recorded a solo block on back-to-back rallies to grow the advantage to 10. The Mountain Lions scored six of the final seven points of the frame to go up 2-0 in the match. Sophomore middle hitter

Set 3
Brown and Pilant collaborated for a block to tie the score 2-2 early in the third set. Then, with the Pioneers leading 9-5, CU powered a 6-0 run to reclaim the lead. Williams smashed two kills and served an ace to score three of the six points during the spurt. Glenville State brought the score within one point, but Thompson answered with a kill as Concord owned a 15-13 advantage. Williams, Anderson, and Thompson combined to score the final four points of the match as CU completed the sweep 25-17.

Match Stats
Williams was the only Mountain Lion in double figures as she hit for 11 kills and tallied 14 digs for her 10th double-double this season. Thompson and Pilant followed with nine kills each. Sophomore defensive specialist
Allie Davis led the way defensively, picking up 18 digs in the contest. Brown and Pilant swatted away three blocks each that fueled Concord's seven team blocks.
