BACK OF THE NET
In two games this season, Concord has scored five goals with five different players finding the net. It's the best offensive start to a season for CU since 2001 when it also scored five goals in the first two games of the season. Junior midfielder Fabian Amhof and sophomore defender Kai Forsyth both scored in Wednesday's 2-2 tie at West Liberty. Forsyth's goal came in the 84th minute with Concord playing a man down. Three of the five goals have alsp been assisted this season, and CU has five assists this fall. In 2022, the Mountain Lions' fifth assist of the season didn't come until the fifth game of the season.

REVERSING FORTUNE

The Mountain Lions haven't defeated Davis & Elkins since 2001. However, the Senators enter Sunday having not scored in two games with a 4-0 loss to West Liberty and a 0-0 draw to nationally-ranked Notre Dame Wednesday. The closest CU has come to downing D&E recently was in February 2021 when the Maroon and Gray lost 1-0 on a goal in the 104th minute. The only current Concord player to appear in the 2021 game was senior midfielder Ricardo Chinea-Pegler. In last year's home meeting, sophomore defender Andrew Beohler came off the bench with a shot.

CLOSE CALLS
Five of the last six games between Concord and West Virginia Wesleyan have been decided by one goal. The only game that wasn't a one-goal contest was a 3-1 win by the Mountain Lions at WVWC two seasons ago. Last year's home game with the Bobcats was evenly played with WVWC holding a 13-9 edge in shots in an eventual 1-0 win. Chinea-Pegler accounted for three shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Keegan Grant made six saves. Concord nearly erased a 3-0 deficit at Wesleyan last year as it got within 3-2 on a goal by sophomore midfielder Tomas Kelly in the 66th minute before falling 4-3. Kelly also scored versus WVWC in the 79th minute.
