GOING UP AGAINST THE BEST
CU narrowly fell to Charleston Wednesday afternoon, 2-1, as junior midfielder Fabian Amhof scored his team-best fourth goal of the season in the 39th minute. Amhof has now scored in three of the last four games, which is the best scoring streak for a Concord player since Maxime Ramioulle scored four times in a three-game stretch in 2018. The Mountain Lions' margin versus UC, a team that has made eight straight NCAA Tournaments, was the smallest since 2018 when Charleston won 1-0. Sophomore goalkeeper Keegan Grant made five saves in the contest Wednesday which was one shy of his season high.

IMPORTANCE ON SATURDAY
The Mountain Lions have only defeated Frostburg State once in program history, 1-0 victory, during the spring 2021 season. As teams begin to jockey for a top-six rank in the MEC, the Mountain Lions are currently sixth with three points--three ties. FSU is the only team in the conference without a win or tie in MEC play this season. The sides played to a 2-2 draw at Frostburg State last season with sophomore midfielder Tomas Kelly tallying a goal on a penalty kick. Grant stopped seven shots in the game. In early October of last season, the Bobcats scored a season-high six goals to win on the road, 6-2.

NON-CONFERENCE SUCCESS
The Mountain Lions are 3-2-1 in their last six non-conference games, including getting a 3-0 win over Salem to start this season. Concord also picked up a home non-league win versus Bob Jones last season, 2-1. Junior midfielder Andre Nicholson had three points in the Salem win while junior midfielder Elvis Gomez and Kelly also scored. Kelly's goal was in the variety of a penalty kick. CU has only played Emory & Henry one previous time, a 5-0 win in 2000.
