CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Concord University men's soccer team saw its historic season conclude Wednesday night in the Mountain East Conference Semifinals as it lost, 2-0, to Charleston at the Welch Athletic Complex.
Against the nationally-ranked, third-rated Golden Eagles (17-1), Concord (8-5-7) held the nation's best offense in check for the first 45 minutes as sophomore goalkeeper
Keegan Grant made six saves to keep the game scoreless at halftime.
The Mountain Lions' best chance of the first half came in the 32
nd minute as a free kick from 25 yards away by junior forward
Fabian Amhof was wide right of the goal.
CU continued to frustrate Charleston through the first 15 minutes of the second half until the Golden Eagles broke the stalemate with a goal in the 60
th minute. UC added a second goal just two minutes later.
Concord got back-to-back corners in the 76
th and 77
th minutes, but was unable to get any chances from those. Junior midfielder
Alessandro Raffl recorded a shot on target in the 82
nd minute, but the Maroon and Gray could not find the back of the net.

Kai Forsyth both had a shot on goal for Concord. Grant stopped eight of the ten Charleston shots on goal in the contest.
During its record-setting season, the Mountain Lions registered their first winning season since 2000, had its second-most wins in program history and won the program's first ever conference tournament game with a 3-2 extra time win over West Virginia Wesleyan Sunday.
