GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Concord University volleyball team dropped its final regular season contest against Glenville State in a Mountain East Conference match Friday evening inside the Waco Center.

Set 1
CU (16-14, 6-9 MEC) took a 2-0 lead to begin the game on a service ace from freshman setter
Paige Richmond and a kill from freshman outside hitter
Chloe Thompson. The Mountain Lions erased a 7-0 run by the Pioneers as they scored eight points in a row to tie the first set 14-14. Freshman outside hitter
Meg Williams and senior middle hitter
Kyndra Pilant both collected two kills during the scoring spurt. Williams added two more kills and freshman setter
Declyn Tooze added an ace as CU couldn't hold off GSU (12-17, 5-10 MEC) as they took the first set, 25-19.
Set 2
Aces from Williams and Tooze knotted the second frame 6-6. Kills from Pilant, freshman right side

Jasmine Anderson pulled Concord ahead 13-10. A kill from Thomson held off a potential GSU run to hold the scoring 16-15. Another kill from Thompson made the sixth lead change of the set and gave CU the edge, 21-20. A block fronted by Whitelow and Williams paired with a kill from Whitelow gave CU the advantage late, 26-25. Kills from Brown and Thompson sealed the second set in dramatic fashion, 29-27.
Set 3
An 8-3 start for the Pioneers was answered by a kill from Brown to bring the Mountain Lions within three, 8-5. Pilant and Anderson added a block as CU still trailed 17-11. Whitelow added another kill in the latter half of the set, but GSU took a 2-1 advantage, 25-20.
Set 4
Kills from Williams, Brown, and Pilant shot CU to a 4-3 lead early in the fourth set. Williams' ninth kill of the game brought Concord within one, 11-10. A pair of GSU attack errors and an ace from Pilant tied the fourth frame, 17-17. A 4-0 Mountain Lions run gave them a one-point advantage, 23-22, on two kills from Williams and another kill from Pilant. Glenville State finished the game on a 3-0 run as they took down CU, 25-23.
Match Stats
Pilant led Concord with 14 kills, tying her second highest total of the season. Williams (13 kills, 16 digs) and Thompson (11 kills, 21 digs) both collected double-doubles. Freshman defensive specialist
Allie Davis tied her second highest dig total of 2023 with 27 digs in the contest. Richmond finished with 21 assists and two aces, while Tooze added 15 assists and one ace. Anderson noticed a new career-high in kills as she swung for four in the match.
The Mountain Lions clinched the number three seed in the MEC South Division and will face the second seed from the North Division in West Liberty at the MEC volleyball tournament at 7:30 on Thursday, November 16 at West Virginia State's Walker Convocation Center.
