Concord Wraps Up Busy Week at Fairmont State

ROLE PLAYING RESERVES
The duo of freshman right side Natalie Brown and freshman setter Declyn Tooze have become reliable rotational players in Concord's lineup this season. Brown and Tooze both hail from Manassas, Va. and graduated high school from Forest Park. They have played in all 25 matches for the Mountain Lions this season and have contributed to the team in different ways. In four of her last five games, Brown has swung for at least five kills including a 10-kill performance against King. She has also recorded multiple blocks in three of her last five games. Tooze has recorded an ace in 17 of CU's 25 contests this year with multiple aces in 10 games. In her last five games, she has notched double-digit assists in four including a 26-assist performance on the road against King and was one dig shy of a double-double.
 
BACK ROW PROTECTOR
In Tuesday's matchup against King, freshman defensive specialist Allie Davis notched a career-high 29 digs. Davis has played in all 90 sets this season for CU and leads the team in digs (393). She currently ranks fifth in the MEC averaging 4.37 digs per set and 3.91 digs per set in conference play. Davis has seven 20-dig games this season and has tallied at least 13 digs in seven of her last nine matches. She has also contributed 58 assists this season (third on the team) and nine service aces with a 95.8% reception percentage.  
 
PREVIOUS MATCHUPS
The Falcons won last year's meeting in the Carter Center 3-0. In the match, senior middle hitter Kyndra Pilant led CU in kills with 11 and was one dig shy of a double-double as she hauled in nine. Pilant also picked up three blocks and two aces in the contest. Sophomore right side Maddie Bohan recorded two blocks and one dig. In 2021 against FSU, senior middle hitter Csayjah Whitelow had two kills and one dig against the Falcons.

SCOUTING THE FALCONS
Fairmont State is one of the best defensive teams in the conference, as it ranks second in blocks per set (2.24) and digs per set (17.5). Senior middle hitter Emma Ludwig is third in the MEC with 1.13 blocks per set and ties her for 32nd across Division II. Sophomore libero Josie Skinn sits at 15th nationally with 5.33 digs per set and posted a 30-dig game in a win over Charleston on October 14. Sophomore outside hitter Joey Borelle (300) and freshman outside hitter Ellie Zuro (255) lead the Falcons in kills and both have a hitting percentage above .200.
