Concord Falls at Glenville State

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Concord University football team lost 44-7 at Glenville State Saturday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference game at Morris Stadium.

The Mountain Lions (0-8, 0-7 MEC) got an early turnover as junior defensive back Kevin Howard intercepted Glenville State's Anthony Garrett on the sixth play of the game.

However, CU was unable to take advantage of the field position near the midfield stripe.

Glenville State (4-3, 3-3 MEC) scored 10 minutes into the contest, and added 16 second-quarter points to open up a 23-0 advantage at halftime.

CU got on the board at the 7:26 mark of the third quarter as senior quarterback Jack Mangel capped a 10-play drive with a 10-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Alvin Howard. It was Mangel's 75th career touchdown.

Mangel finished the day with 140 yards through the air and the second-half touchdown. Sixth-year wide receiver Kris Copeland caught a game-best 10 passes for 52 yards.

Freshman defensive back Kendall Bournes and junior linebacker Jamari Smith both recorded nine tackles. Junior defensive back Mekhi Williams racked up eight tackles (seven solo).

The Mountain Lions return to Callaghan Stadium to face West Virginia Wesleyan 2:00 p.m. October 28.
