ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team lost to Wheeling 3-0 in a Mountain East Conference matchup Friday night inside the Carter Center.

A kill from senior middle hitter
Kyndra Pilant put CU (14-4 4-4 MEC) in the scoring column as it trailed the Cardinals (16-6 7-1 MEC) 4-3 in the opening set. The Mountain Lions closed in on Wheeling's lead 15-8 on another kill from Pilant. Wheeling closed out the game on a 5-1 run, final score 25-12. Concord picked up four total blocks in the first set.

Natalie Brown added a kill each to cut the Cardinals lead to one point, 8-7 early in the second frame. Brown added two more kills to make the score 11-9 in favor of WU. Two 3-0 runs by the Mountain Lions would not be enough as Wheeling took a 2-0 set advantage, 25-20.

Chloe Thompson saw CU grab its first lead of the evening, 2-1. A kill from freshman setter
Declyn Tooze stopped a 6-0 Cardinals run to bring the scoring to 13-6 Wheeling. Brown, Pilant, and Thompson picked up kills in the closing moments of the match as Wheeling completed the sweep 25-13.
