Concord Scores Season-High Nine Times in Win at Salem

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team scored a season-high nine goals in a shutout win, 9-0, over Salem Wednesday night in a non-conference game.

Eight different players scored in the contest with four Concord (7-3-2) players recording three or more points.

CU struck for two goals in the first seven minutes of the game as sophomore midfielder Reeanna Cook scored off junior midfielder Leah Fleming's corner kick. The second, quick Concord tally came from sophomore forward Caitlin Webster.

Fleming scored unassisted in the 25th minute, and the final first-half goal came from graduate forward Alexa Todd as she received a free kick from Cook and found herself one-on-one with the Salem (0-9-1) goalkeeper.

A whole new 11 took to the pitch for the Mountain Lions in the second half.

Junior forward Kylene Franklin scored the first of her two goals, unassisted in the 47th minute.

Six minutes later, freshman defender Payton Harvey tallied her first career goal.

Freshman midfielder Katie Garratt scored just over two minutes after Harvey's goal while Franklin capped her first career multi-goal game in the 61st minute. Junior midfielder Anna Davis wrapped up the scoring in the 87th minute with her second goal of the season.

Cook, Davis and Fleming all had an assist and goal in the game. Franklin became the fourth different CU player with a brace this season, joining freshman midfielder Wilma Hedenberg, junior forward Sydney Tucker and Webster.

The nine goals scored by CU were the most since October 31, 2021 at Alderson Broaddus when it posted 10 goals.

Six different defenders senior Sophie Cutter, graduate student Jordyn Dansby-Ross, freshman Madison Francis, freshman Lotte Fasen and juniors Emma Ring and Olivia Shollenberger combined to hold Salem without a shot in the game.

The Mountain Lions ripped off 38 total shots in the game with 28 on frame.

Concord returns to the YMCA Cline Complex in Beckley to host West Liberty on Senior Day 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
