WHEELING, W.Va. – The Concord Univeristy women's basketball team dropped a 93-52 decision to Wheeling Saturday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference contest at the McDonough Center.
The Mountain Lions (4-8, 2-6 MEC) fell behind WU (7-7, 5-3 MEC) 6-0 in the first minute of the game, and trailed 21-11 after a quarter.
Down 23 points, 50-27, six minutes into the second half, Concord outscored the Cardinals 16-10 over the final four minutes of the third quarter to close the gap to 60-43 through three quarters. Freshman forward
Abbie Smith contributed five points during the stretch.
However, the momentum for CU did not carry over into the fourth as Wheeling scored the first 13 points of the fourth quarter on its way to the win.

Jaisah Smith tallied 12 points. A. Smith added 10 points. Junior forward
Kyndra Pilant grabbed a career-best 13 rebounds. Graduate guard
Maggie Guynn netted seven points. Guynn and J. Smith both had seven boards.
CU is back in action when it travels to West Virginia Wesleyan 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
