RESERVE ROLE
Senior midfielder Michael Shelor came off the bench to score for Concord in a 2-2 tie against King to open the season. Freshman forward Andrew Beohler and freshman midfielder Caleb Mott were also substitutes in the game that ended up scoring or assisting for the Mountain Lions. Shelor added a second goal last week as he netted CU's second score in a 2-2 tie against Frostburg State Sunday. Shelor has nearly matched his goal total from last season as the Pembroke, Virginia native finished 2021 with three goals.

TWO-WAY GUY
Freshman defender Jonathan Baldwin had both a goal and an assist in his first two collegiate games. Baldwin scored off of Mott's assist versus King while he assisted on Shelor's game-tying goal at Frostburg State. Baldwin is not only the lone Concord player with a goal and an assist early in the season, but he's the only player in the MEC with a goal and an assist thus far.

BACK ON THE WINNING TRACK
CU won the first three meetings with West Liberty, but the Hilltoppers have won the last four to pull ahead in the all-time series by a game. The last Concord win game in September 2019 when it won 2-0 at WLU. Shelor found the score sheet three seasons ago as he tallied a goal in the 31st minute. Later in 2019 in a 2-1 loss, Shelor recorded an assist.

SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS

West Liberty's only game this season was a 3-0 loss to nationally-ranked Charleston. The Hilltoppers were only able to get two shots off against UC. Veteran goalkeeper Noah Underwood made seven saves in the game. Vitor Otsuka scored in WLU's 2-0 win at Concord last season. The Hilltoppers are coming off a 6-12 campaign last fall that saw them go 5-11 versus conference foes.
