ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University Sports Medicine Department has filled out its staff for the 2022-23 school year.
Three familiar faces return to CU to bring the athletic trainers in the department to seven for the academic year.
After spending time as an athletic trainer for Princeton High School and the Bluefield RidgeRunners of the Appalachian League as well as teaching in the classroom at Concord,
Brittany Lilly will be on the sidelines as one of two primary trainers for the CU football team this fall. Lilly is a two-time graduate of Concord with her undergraduate degree in 2018, and her master's in 2020.
Former Concord baseball player
James Wood is back in Athens after a stint as a graduate assistant at Lamar University in Texas as well as a resident trainer for Virginia Tech's football program. Wood played baseball for CU from 2016-19, seeing time as a left-handed relief pitcher. Wood also has experience working with the Houston Texans in 2017 and 2018. This fall, he will work alongside Lilly with the Mountain Lions' football team. He will then shift to the diamond to work with CU baseball.
Kate Wood will return to work with programs that she is very familiar with—the Concord cross country/track & field teams as well as cheerleading. Wood was a three-time All-Mountain East Conference selection (two cross country, one track & field) in her career. She was a member of Concord's 2018 women's cross country conference championship team. Before returning to CU, Wood graduated with her master's from Wingate.
The trio joins
Brooke Dicks (women's soccer, softball),
Ellie Lawrence (volleyball, men's & women's golf), Duke Wu (spring soccer, men's basketball) and
Megan Fitzpatrick (men's soccer, women's basketball) on the training staff.
