ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University softball team dropped both its games to West Virginia Wesleyan Tuesday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference doubleheader at the CU Softball Field.
Game 1: West Virginia Wesleyan 8 – Concord 0
West Virginia Wesleyan (15-9-1, 5-2 MEC) built on a four-run first inning and held Concord (6-20, 0-8 MEC) to two hits in the contest.
Concord's two hits came from a double by freshman shortstop/utility player
Courtney Raines in the bottom of the second and another double from senior pitcher/outfielder
Laura Thompson in the sixth inning.

Caitlyn Bauer (3-9) was the losing pitcher, tossing three strikeouts in four innings.
Game 2: West Virginia Wesleyan 11 – Concord 1
Down 4-1 after five innings, Concord surrendered seven runs in the sixth to fall in game two.
Concords lone run came after giving up two runs in the top of the first inning. Freshman third baseman
Kylee Stacy walked and stole second. Stacy scored two batters later on an RBI single by junior catcher/outfielder
Jolie Privett into right field to make it a 2-1 ballgame.

Sarah Thompson each recorded a double in the game.

Rachael Koller (3-9) threw 4.2 innings and was tagged with the loss in the circle.
Concord hosts Emory & Henry in a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday at CU Softball Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
